History

Years ago, this game started as a horribly optimized demo of a simple idea: nothing can be seen until you paint on it. This demo was very limited and featured hacked together implementations but the concept worked.

It was a whole new way to play, a new way to explore, a new way to experience 3D spaces.

Everyone that played it definitely had questions, they saw the potential, and it seeing this reaction meant the concept had room to grow.

This resulted in a demo for a game based around painting to explore and logic puzzles based on the elements of the environment that could only be painted certain colors. This demo was a huge technical step forward and got an even bigger reaction. Players could see the potential in the idea, but it wasn't quite reaching it.

Finally, the current iteration of the project was born. Large open areas that require the player to plan out their path and paint from their exploration builds an ever increasing series of known and unknown areas. The player is constantly looking for new locations, new upgrades, and new sources of paint to satiate their curiosity.

About The Team

We've been working in the games industry collectively for decades while also working on small experimental projects in our free time. Each project is meant to be a way for us to grow as developers both in terms of skill, creativity, and making cooler and cooler stuff for people to play.

Games like Canvas only scratch the surface for what kinds of games the team wants to make. We think that smaller scope, more interesting indie games are the way forward in the industry and will best create games that people want to play!

Monetization Permission

We allow for the contents of Canvas to be published through video broadcasting services for any commercial or non-commercial purposes. Monetization of videos created containing assets from Canvas is legally & explicitly allowed by the IP holders.
